I will bet most technicians use their tools four just troubleshooting and then find a hard time justifying the cost for new tools or training to use them properly.
I encourage people to use their tools for more than just troubleshooting, there are tons of other uses such as validation of your configuration or just making sure things worked as you expect them to.
In this video I configured a remote office router with multiple networks and DHCP scopes. I then used my handheld tester to confirm that DHCP was working correctly for each port. This example may seem trivial, but if you do this sort of thing a lot, you saved hours of your time every day.
By using your tools more regularly, you are more efficient with them, you learn new stuff and you’re always fresh with its use when a problem does occur.
