F7 AND THE Windows COMMAND PROMPT

I am always surprised when I do something that I think is obvious and the person beside me is surprised and impressed.

This tip involves working in the Windows command prompt. To be fair, I’ve been using the command prompt since 1989 and taught how to work with the prompt so I had to force myself to figure out all the nuances of using it.

In this case, I was typing in several commands and when I wanted to go back 5 or 6 commands, I used the F7 key to select the command I needed. The technician beside me though it was so cool and wondered if I installed any special software to get that. I explained that this has been around for a while and you don’t need to install anything, just go try it.

Little tips like this make working in the command prompt a little more bearable.

Enjoy
