Cisco Packet Tracer Quickstart

Any network nerd can tell you the biggest headache they run into when testing or learning about vendor’s equipment is physically finding space, power, network cables, etc to hook the equipment up. Then of course you are faced with all the logistical trip ups while connecting everything, plus the noise from the fans and the increase in heat, etc…

Many times I think ahead and try to do the simple math; is all that effort worth the amount of time I will spend on the equipment?. Or, will the amount of information I will learn worth the time spent setting all this up?

A little while ago I was introduced to Cisco’s Packet Tracer. Cisco Packet Tracer is a network simulation program that allows you to experiment with various types of equipment and how your configurations affect its behavior. It is also a great “what if” tool.

Since a few people have approached me with how to get going with it, I thought I would put out a few videos to help
